School NOT Closed!?

One of the best perks of being a teacher is the fact that schools close for bad weather. Well, most schools... just not mine.

"...is more than just some worship services. Sacred Gathering will be an intense, focused time over 3 days to connect with God. As a church, we will gather on three consecutive evenings to worship, read Scripture, and prayer. Each gathering will be built around unique and authentic times where we will seek God's face together."

This week our church is hosting a series of Sacred Gatherings.
So far we've had about 700 people each night fasting and worshiping together.

I came into this a little skeptical; skeptical about whether or not I wanted to actually give up food! Don't get me wrong, I'm hungry, but the last two nights have been great for my wife and I. We've really enjoyed the worship (props to Ron, Tina, and the band) and the chance to sit and pray together is something we struggle to schedule into our lives like we should.

Last night, after the first(or second) song, Jeff got up and asked us, "What are we really searching for?" That question has been rolling around in my head ever since. I went to Bible college, was an ordained pastor, and now a Bible teacher. But on a day to day basis my life is mostly about... well, a lot of things. None of which are 'searching desperately for God'. I have a relationship with God, and desire His blessing and direction in my life; but if I consider what I'm 'searching for'... I'm trying to refocus and commit to giving God more of myself throughout each day. To make Jesus Christ and knowing Him 'the only thing I am searching for'.
