Tom Brady the best ever?!?!

As Super Bowl XLII approaches, the question of who is the greatest quarterback in NFL history is being debated. Many believe, and are sorely mistaken, that Tom Brady is on his way to earning the title of 'greatest ever'.

I feel an obligation to remind the tens of people that read this blog who really is the greatest QB of all time.

JOE MONTANA

For many, my opinion may simply be written off due to my childhood infatuation, adoration, and undying devotion to the hometown hero.

*not to mention that, as a child, I could go at least a week wearing only 49ers clothing and not wear anything twice*

Here are just a few cold, hard facts:

* Four-time Super Bowl winner (starting QB)
* Three-time Super Bowl MVP
* Eight-time Pro Bowl selection
* NFL Hall of Fame class of 2000
* Second all-time in passing efficiency (92.3)

Sporting News had the following to say about 'Joe Cool'...

"There have been greater athletes at quarterback. All Montana did was everything a quarterback must do, the ballhandling, passing, leading. He did it with an efficiency and grace under pressure so astonishing that linebacker Wayne Walker once said, "Joe's cooler than the other side of the pillow."

Mostly, Montana saw everything. He saw his game the way Larry Bird and Wayne Gretzky saw theirs. Where others saw kaleidoscopic confusion, he intuited design. Who knows, did he throw more passes to his third-choice receiver than anyone? He seemed to know where everyone would be before they themselves knew. It's an artist's gift given only to the few. Montana had it."
